The following is a release from Hickory Police:
This morning at approximately 12:55 A.M., Hickory Police Officers responded to 131 8th Avenue Drive SE after receiving a call of a sick or injured person located at the residence. Officers located a deceased 59-year-old black male, Marty Lee Brown lying on a couch in the living room with apparent gunshot trauma.
During the initial investigation, Brown’s wife stated that she was asleep in their bedroom when two unknown black females woke her, telling her that her husband was injured. The two females fled the residence and Mrs. Brown found her husband unresponsive on the couch. Investigators have identified and located the two black females and do not consider them to be suspects at this time. Investigators are continuing their investigation and additional details will be released as they become available.
