Man Crashes Into Crowd At Catawba County Flea Market

An 83-year old man has been charged after Newton Police say he crashed his vehicle into a crowd of people on Thursday at the Catawba County American Legion Fairgrounds.

Gerald S Flowers of Conover has been charged after he struck an appliance display causing several appliances to strike pedestrians. Five people including a three-year old and a five-year old sustained non life-threatening injuries. Four of the five were taken to area hospitals. Flowers has been charged with careless and reckless driving and damage to property.
