A man from Cherokee is being held under a large bond after his arrest this morning in Catawba County. 29 year old Jack Daniel Smith was arrested by Hickory Police for felony probation violation and possession of a firearm by a felon. He was also charged for possession of schedule II controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Smith is being held in the Catawba County Detention Center under a secured bond of $130,000. He is scheduled for court in Catawba County on January 3rd, 2019.
