Man Arrested With Stolen Vehicle From Alexander County

42-year-old Douglas Ray Brewer of Newton was arrested by Hickory Police on January 17th for felony possession of schedule I & II controlled substances. He was also charged with misdemeanor possession of a schedule VI controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia .

Brewer was arrested in connection to an incident that began January 16th when Police saw a vehicle in the parking lot at a convenience store on 2nd Avenue N.W. in Hickory. The vehicle had been reported stolen out of Alexander County. Officers reportedly found 1.1 grams of heroin, 0.06 grams of methamphetamine, and 1.1 grams of marijuana.

Brewer was taken into custody and placed in the Catawba County Detention Facility under a $25,000 secured bond. He has since been released.

He has made an initial court appearance. His next court date is set for April 5th.
