Linconton Man Gets 9-12 Years In Prison For Catawba County Shooting

36-year-old Andrew Lindon Paul Mungro of Lincolnton, was given an active prison sentence of nine to twelve years after he pleaded guilty to assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, second-degree kidnapping and possession of a firearm by a felon.

He entered the guilty plea during Tuesday’s (February 8) session of Catawba County Superior Court. The Honorable Gregory R. Hayes, Superior Court Judge from Catawba County, imposed the prison term for Mungro .

Officers from the Hickory Police Department responded to a shooting at an apartment complex on 12th Avenue SE in Hickory October 22, 2020. They found a female victim lying on the floor of an apartment with a single gunshot wound to the stomach. She told officers that Mungro shot her. The victim was transported to Catawba Valley Medical Center before being flown to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte for treatment of her injuries.

According to a juvenile witness who was in the apartment, the defendant and victim were arguing before he went upstairs and returned with a handgun. The witness said Mungro shot the victim and then pushed him across the room and pointed the gun at him before leaving. Mungro was found later that day in Lincoln County and arrested.
