A US Postal Service employee was attacked and seriously injured by two dogs in Lenoir on Thursday.
Both dogs were reported to be Great Danes and have been seized by Caldwell County Animal Care Enforcement.
47-yeaar old Kristi Goldsberry was transported to Caldwell UNC Health Care in Lenoir and later taken by a helicopter to Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. Goldsberry suffered severe trauma to her right forearm and puncture wounds to her back and right leg according to Lenoir Police.
The attack was reported shortly before 2pm. Lenoir police Officers responded to 956 SW Norwood St. When found the victim with severe injuries.
Goldsberry was delivering mail to the residence and made contact with the homeowner at the front door. While handing the package to the homeowner, two Great Danes rushed by the homeowner and attacked Goldsberry. The homeowner immediately began to take control of the dogs and render first aid.
