Lenoir Man Struck And Killed While Riding Bicycle

A Lenoir man was struck and killed while riding a bicycle on Sunday.

36-year old Nathan Daniel Smith was pronounced dead after being struck by an impaired driver according to Lenoir Police.

Officers responded to the crash scene shortly after 2pm Sunday in the 1700 block of Hickory Boulevard near the Broyhill Civic Center.

The investigation led to the arrest of 27-year old Christopher Murillo of Gastonia. Police say Murillo was driving the vehicle that struck Smith’s bike.

Smith died at the scene of the accident.

Lenoir Police say that Murillo failed a field sobriety test leading to his arrest. Results of additional sobriety tests have not been released.
