Lenoir Man Charged With Sexual Assault

A Caldwell County man is being held without bond after being charged in connection with a reported sexual assault in Burke County.

According to the Burke County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received a report of a sexual assault on June 15. Following an investigation, warrants were issued for Raleigh Garner Rogers, age 64 of Main Street NW in Lenoir, charging him with felony first-degree statutory sex offense.

Rogers was arrested on June 25 and taken to the Burke County Magistrate’s Office, where he was served with the warrant. He was ordered held without bond. At his initial court appearance on June 26, a judge again ordered that Rogers remain in custody without bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for July 17.
