McDowell 54 Alexander Central 39
Boone: McDowell defeated Alexander Central Friday night to claim the league tournament title and win the season-series 2-1 over the Lady Cougars.
AC led 13-6 after the first quarter and 24-20 at half. Then came the third-quarter ! The Lady Titans roared ahead winning the period 22-6. ACHS had no answer for McDowell’s defense that forced 20 turnovers on the night. Khloe Joyner who was named the tournament MVP, had 21 points and 12 rebounds to push the team from Marion to a 21-5 record heading into the State Tournament reveal on Saturday.
Meredith Wike who was named all-tournament, had 14 points and a game-high 13 rebounds. Malayah Adams, also named all-tournament, had 10 points for Alexander Central who at 22-3 figure to be highly seeded in the State 6A bracket.
