The Baby Cougars won a home game against Marvin Ridge Thursday night in Taylorsville.
AC held a 14-0 halftime lead on a touchdown by Jamison Rowe after he intercepted a Maverick pass and returned in 35 yds in the first quarter.
Alexander Central would add another score with 19 seconds in the half when Jeremiah Whitaker found the end zone from two yards.
Marvin Ridge dominated the 3rd period and scored a pair of touchdowns to tie the game at 14.
The crucial drive of the night took 4:48 off the clock in the final period. The Baby Cougars marched 79 yards in 11 plays capped by a 1-yard run by Sawyer Chapman-Mays. It proved to be the game winner.
Marvin Ridge moved into Cougar Territory but failed on 4th down.
Sawyer Chapman-Mays rushed for 101 yards on 20 carries.
Jahiem Redmond led the AC defense with 8 tackles and Jayon Connor added 7.
ACHS is 3-2 heading into the bye week prior to conference play.
