It Could Get Stormy This Afternoon !

June 22, 2026 By Richard C. Gilbert

Alexander County is currently not under a Hazardous Weather Outlook; however, strong to severe thunderstorms are expected this afternoon into tonight. Storm chances will begin around 2:00 PM, with the greatest potential for severe weather between 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM. Damaging straight-line winds and frequent lightning will be the primary threats, while rainfall amounts are expected to remain around one-quarter inch. Additional storms may continue into the overnight hours as a line of thunderstorms moves across the region. Residents are encouraged to remain weather aware, secure loose outdoor items, and have multiple ways to receive weather warnings this afternoon and tonight.
