STATESVILLE – The N.C. Department of Transportation will close the Interstate 40 eastbound loop to I-77 southbound in Statesville beginning Sunday, Oct. 16.
The closure, which will complete a phase of road construction shifting traffic in a new alignment, is expected to be completed by Tuesday, Oct. 18.
Motorists are encouraged to utilize I-40 East to U.S. 21 (Exit 151) to I-40 West to I-77 South (Exit 153).
Motorists should use caution and allow extra time for the detour.
