Hiddenite Home Goes Up In Flames, Two Residents Escape Flames By Diving From Window

May 24, 2021 By Richard C. Gilbert

A Hiddenite home was destroyed by fire over the weekend.

Alexander County Fire Marshall Mark Earle says that Hiddenite, Stony Point, Vashti, and Taylorsville Fire Departments were dispatched to a home on Dishmon Family Drive shortly before 5pm on Saturday. The double-wide mobile home was engulfed in flames when the first units arrived. Two residents had to escape the flames through a window. Both were taken to an area hospital for treatment. Their injuries were not life-threatening.

Fire Marshall Earle says the blaze started as the result of improperly discarded smoking material. The dwelling is considered a total loss.
