Hickory Woman Killed In Lincoln County Accident

November 18, 2023 By Richard C. Gilbert

Vale – On Friday, November 17, at approximately 5:15 p.m., the NC State Highway Patrol responded to and investigated a fatal collision in Lincoln County on Reepsville Road at Cansler Road. A 2002 Toyota RAV4 traveling west on Cansler Road, failed to stop at a stop sign and was struck by a 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe traveling south on Reepsville Road.

The driver of the RAV4, Susan Willis Wilson, 65, of Hickory, NC, succumbed to her injuries at the scene. She was not restrained by a seat belt.

The driver of the Tahoe, Desma Ann Hart, 56, of Vale, NC, and a juvenile passenger were transported by EMS to Atrium Health Lincoln, with non-life-threatening injuries.

The initial investigation does not indicate speed or impairment to be a contributing factor and no charges will be filed in this case. During the on-scene investigation, the roadway was closed in the area for approximately two hours.
