Hickory Woman Enters Plea In Church Embezzlement Case

A Hickory woman has entered a plea of no contest to embezzling $600,000 from a church.

A no contest plea is defined as the defendant neither admitting nor disputing a charge.

56-year old Lisa Ann McCool entered the plea in Catawba County Superior Court on Monday. McCool was the finance secretary at Highland Baptist Church for more than twenty-five years.

A judge ordered McCool to serve 51 to 74 months in prison and payback the money to the church.
