Hickory Ridge 2
Alexander Central 1
It’s been said that you can learn more from a loss than a win, for Alexander Central’s Softball team, the lessons are plentiful.
The visitors from Cabarrus County ended the Lady Cougars perfect season on Wednesday in Taylorsville with a 2-1 win.
AC jumped on top in the second inning on an opposite field homer from Kenzie Church. Hickory Ridge would take advantage of a throwing error that advanced two runners in the 4th inning and scored twice. Both runs scored without a run batted in.
ACHS would threaten several times but couldn’t get the big hit against Hickory Ridge pitcher Anna Dew. AC ran into a third out at third base, committed 3 errors, misplayed some fly balls, struck out 12 times and managed just three hits off Dew. Faith Carrigan took the hard luck loss allowing only 3 hits, 9 strike outs and no earned runs.
Alexander Central falls to 14-1. Hickory Ridge improves to 11-4.
