Hickory Man Tracked And Captured In Iredell County…Again !

A Hickory man out on bond after being charged breaking into vehicles in Iredell County in April was tracked by Iredell Canine Officer “Levi” and arrested again Thursday morning.

Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Deputies responded to the 100-block of Stonefield Drive, west of Statesville, in reference to a motor vehicle break-in in progress.

When the deputies arrived, they quickly established a perimeter and attempted to locate the suspect.

A suspicious vehicle was sighted traveling in the area at high speed. The vehicle was stopped near the 1200 block of Old Mountain Road. The driver jumped from the vehicle and fled on foot.

Levi Gets His Man Again

Canine “Levi,” tracked the suspect over one mile into a wooded area where 28-year old Kentrel Antwain Overton was captured.

Overton was arrested and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center, where he was charged with Felony Flee to Elude Arrest with a Motor Vehicle, Two Counts of Felony Conspiracy, Two Counts of Misdemeanor Attempt Breaking and Entering to a Motor Vehicle, Misdemeanor Careless and Reckless Driving, Misdemeanor Speeding Excess 15 over, Misdemeanor Driving While License Revoked, Misdemeanor Resist, Obstruct and Delay, Misdemeanor Injury to Personal Property.

Overton was placed in the Iredell County Jail with a secured bond set at $75,000.

Canine Levi successfully tracked Overton in April after a homeowner witnessed his vehicle being broken into via his security camera. Canine Levi arrived on scene and tracked Overton to where he was hiding.
