Friday, at approximately 3:30 a.m., the Catawba County Communications Center received a call regarding a stabbing at Shuford Yarns on 1st Avenue SW, in Hickory.
Long View Police Officers promptly responded to the scene, where they discovered a male employee who had sustained multiple stab wounds.
The Long View Fire Department and Catawba County Emergency Medical Services, provided immediate medical assistance to the victim, who was then transported to a local medical facility. The victim was last reported to be in stable condition.
The Long View Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division initiated an investigation into the incident. As a result of the probe, it was determined that the stabbing occurred inside Shuford Yarns and involved two employees.
With the assistance of the Hickory Police Department and the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office, Long View Police conducted an extensive search, leading to the apprehension of the suspect, who was identified as Nicholas Aundrey Propst. He was found in the City of Hickory and taken into custody by Long View Police Officers.
Propst is on probation as a result of a conviction in Catawba County in February of this year. He was convicted of felony possession of schedule II controlled substance and misdemeanor breaking & entering. He received probation and a suspended sentence. Following Friday’s arrest, Propst was jailed in the Catawba County Detention Facility under no bond. A District Court appearance is scheduled Monday (August 26).
