Brandon Scott Whisnant

A Hickory man has been charged with breaking into the same church twice in four days.

Brandon Scott Whisnant, 36, was arrested Tuesday by the Hickory Police Department. The offenses include two felony counts of breaking and entering a place of worship, felony larceny and obtaining property by false pretense. The target of the alleged crimes was the Resurrection Church on Clement Boulevard Northwest. He also has been cited for breaking and entering and second-degree trespass at a City of Hickory building on Ninth Avenue Drive Northwest.

The church had items taken that included a camera, tools and a guitar, with the church’s property listed at a value of $6,000. A separate count alleges a stolen Gibson guitar was sold to Guitar Center in Hickory.

Whisnant is listed as a parole absconder leading to another count of parole violation. The suspect is being held without bond in the Catawba County Jail as of this report.
