A Hickory Church has purchased the former corporate headquarters of CommScope.
CommScope, which was founded in Hickory in 1976, moved its corporate headquarters from the building off 11th Avenue Boulevard, SE, to one of the company’s other facilities off U.S. 70 in Claremont, according to an October filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Soma Church of Hickory has been named in a report by The Hickory Daily Record as the purchaser. The church is currently based in Hollar Mill.
The property’s tax value is $7.5 million, with the building itself making up roughly $6.5 million of that total, according to Catawba County records.
The relocation of CommScope’s headquarters comes at a time when the company is facing business challenges.
For the third quarter of this year, the company reported a 33% drop in sales from that time in the previous year. The company has cited factors such as inflation, rising interest rates and caution among its clients as key factors in the drop.
