Carlos Alverto Uribe
Carlos Alverto Uribe, age 29, will serve (7 years and 10 months) to (10 years and 5 months). Uribe pleaded guilty in June to shooting 21-year-old Camden Skyler Childers, of Stanley, on June 26, 2025. Childers was shot after being cornered in a cul-de-sac in Conover following a series of police chases. The body cam footage has never been released despite requests.
As previously reported, late on the night of Thursday, June 26, 2025, Childers led officers from both Lincoln and Catawba counties on multiple high-speed chases. The first began in Lincoln County because his motorcycle had no registration plate. The filing says there was no indication he was armed and he never displayed a weapon. The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office was informed of the pursuit but chose not to engage.
