Max Ralston James Jr, 63, is charged with felony attempted obstruction of justice and felony conspiracy. He was taken into custody on Friday by the State Bureau of Investigation. James has been released under a secured bond of $8,000.
No other details about the charges has been provided. The Office of District Attorney has not commented on the case.
James was elected to the Board of Education in 2014 but was defeated in his re-election bid in 2018. He also failed as a write-in contestant in 2022.
