Fatal Accident Confirmed In Iredell County

October 3, 2023 By Richard C. Gilbert

Statesville– On Monday, October 2, at approximately 1:50 p.m., the NC State Highway Patrol responded to and investigated a fatal collision in Iredell County on Tabor Road near Speaks Road. A 1994 Ford Ranger traveling north on Tabor Road, drove off the right side of the road and struck a tree.

The driver of the Ford, Jimmy Lee Dalton, 78, of Hamptonville, NC, succumbed to his injuries at the scene. He was not restrained by a seatbelt.

During the on-scene investigation, Tabor Road was partially closed in the area for two hours. The initial investigation indicates speed and alcohol were not contributing circumstances in the collision.
