The Alexander County Health Department has confirmed that a local citizen has died from COVID-19 associated symptoms during the past 7 days. The death is the 151st in the county since the beginning of the pandemic.
Alexander County Public Health is pleased to provide Covid-19 vaccinations for our citizens. To register for a vaccine appointment at our office, visit https://alexandercountync.gov/covid/ or call 828-632-9704. At this time we are scheduling appointments for the following vaccines/doses according to eligibility:
Adult:
– Pfizer: first & second doses, third/immunocompromised dose, and booster dose(s) of Pfizer (1st booster available to all adults; 2nd booster recommended for adults ages 50+)
– Moderna: first & second doses, third/immunocompromised dose, and booster dose(s) of Pfizer (1st booster available to all adults; 2nd booster recommended for adults ages 50+)
– Novovax: first & second doses; no booster recommended at this time
Pediatric:
– Ages 12-17:
– Pfizer: first & second doses, third/immunocompromised dose, and 1 booster dose
– Moderna: first & second dose; no booster recommended at this time
– Ages 5-11 years:
– Pfizer: first & second doses; and 1 booster dose
– Ages 6 months-5 Years:
– Moderna: first & second dose; no booster recommended at this time
– Ages 6 months-<5 years:
- Pfizer: first & second doses; no booster recommended at this time
The health department do not have the Janssen/J&J vaccine but those who meet criteria and are interested in receiving it are encouraged to contact their healthcare provider or local pharmacy.
