COVID-19 Cases Continue To Climb In Alexander County

July 27, 2021 By Richard C. Gilbert

8 new cases of COVID-19 were reported over this past weekend in Alexander County.

According to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, the county has added 46 new cases in the past week. That’s by far the largest spike since last Winter.

As of Monday at noon, 4,526 cases have been reported in Alexander County since the beginning of the pandemic.

At last report, 5 county citizens were hospitalized with COVID associated symptoms.

Only 34 percent of Alexander County citizens are fully vaccinated, which is well below the state and national average. The Alexander County Health Department has a good supply of both the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines. Vaccinations have slowed tremendously, so if you want to get vaccinated, call (828) 632-9704 or (828) 352-7724 or visit www.alexandercountync.gov/covid to schedule your appointment. You’ll likely be scheduled for the very next day.
