Couple Charged With Trafficking Drugs In Burke And Catawba County

ɴᴇᴡᴛᴏɴ, ɴ.ᴄ. – On Tuesday, May 30th, Narcotics Investigators with Burke and Catawba County Sheriff’s Offices arrested two people suspected of trafficking in narcotics.

Narcotics seized during this investigation include 46.41 grams of fentanyl, 52.17 grams of methamphetamine, 13 grams of marijuana, 35 grams of suboxone, 1 fentanyl strip, 1 klonopin tablet and 2 oxycodone tablets. A 2009 Mercedes Benz GLS 550 and $573.00 in United States currency was also seized.

Kenny Tran

, 28, was arrested in connection with this investigation and has been charged with Trafficking in Fentanyl, Trafficking in Methamphetamine, Conspiracy to Traffic Methamphetamine, Maintaining a Vehicle for the Purposes of Manufacturing, Selling or Delivering Controlled Substances and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Tran, a Hickory resident,remaines in the Catawba County Detention Center under a secured bond of $175,000. She had a first appearance in Catawba County District Court on Wednesday.

Alexa Jo Carnes

Alexa Jo Carnes, 30, was arrested in connection with this investigation and has been charged with Trafficking in Fentanyl, Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell or Deliver Schedule II Controlled Substances, Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell or Deliver Schedule III Controlled Substances, Conspiracy to Traffic Methamphetamine, Felony Possession Schedule II Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Carnes, a Hickory resident, received a $300,000.00 secured bond and had a first appearance in Catawba County District Court on Wednesday.
