Taylorsville: Two old foes faced each other Friday night in a Northwestern Conference game that might have been even more one-sided than the score would indicate.
Alexander Central routed South Caldwell 49-0 behind a run-at-will offense and a smothering defense.
The Cougars took the opening kick and went 62 yards in 9 plays capped by a Sawyer Chapman-Mays run from 7 yards. He was just getting warmed up. The sophomore fullback would add a 9 yard touchdown run before the first quarter was over and a 3 yard plunge into the end zone early in the second period.
Alexander Central added a touchdown when QB Tanner Moore ran in from 6 yards with 5:01 remaining before half.
Moore would hit Garrison Millsaps with a 55 yard scoring pass with 2:01 left in the half. The Cougars led 35-0 at the intermission.
Braydon Rowe’s 10-yard run in the third made it 42-0 and initiated the continuous running clock.
AC would score again the 4th period when Jeremiah Whitaker danced in from a yard.
South Caldwell was punchless gaining just 95 total yards and amassing 98 yards in penalties.
ACHS gained 337 yards, 268 on the ground and 69 in the air.
Sawyer Chapman-Mays led the Cougar rushing attack with 107 yards on 21 carries and 3 touchdowns.
South Caldwell looses for the 5th straight game and drops to 3-5 and 0-3 in the Northwestern Conference.
AC improves to 4-4 and 2-1.
