Cougars Fall To Hickory

Alexander Central dropped a pair of Northwestern Conference Basketball games to Hickory Wednesday night in Taylorsville.

Women

Hickory outscored the Lady Cougars 19-11 in the second quarter in an otherwise even game. ACHS continued to struggle from the free throw line making just 3 of 12. AC falls to 7-2 overall and 5-2 in conference play. Hickory improves to 5-1 and 4-1. Chesney Stikeleather led Alexander Central with 17 points.

The Blue and Gold jumped out to an 11 point lead after the first quarter and led by as many as 15 in the second. The visitors from Catawba County outscored the Cougars 38-21 in the second half. Hickory got the win despite their struggles from the charity stripe making just 13 of 28. Evan Presnell paced the AC scoring with 20. The Cougars are now 5-3 overall and 4-3 in conference. Hickory is 7-1 and 6-1.
