Cougar Volleyball Wins

The JV team won their first match of the season in two sets with scores of 25-23 and 25-16. The offense was led by Lindsey Reece (4 kills, 1 block, 2 aces), Bella Pritchard (4 kills), Reese Mikeal (3 kills), and Kenzie Church (3 kills). Setters, Allie Patton (11 assists, 3 aces) and Darcy Childers (3 assists), combined for 14 of the 17 totaled assists. The defensive efforts were anchored by Lindsey Reece (9 digs), Allie Patton (8 digs), and Riley Patterson (6 digs).

Varsity

The Varsity team had an impressive three set win with scores of 25-10, 25-10, and 25-18. The offense was led by Brianna Abernathy (9 kills, 1 block), Gracie Harrington (7 kills), and Ashlyn Merritt (6 kills, 1 block). Setters, Bryanna Payne (15 assists, 2 aces), Emily Brown (8 assists), and Madalyn Motley (5 assists), totaled 28 of the 34 recorded assists. The defense tallied 62 digs with Gracie Harrington (18 digs), Shelbi Coffey (9 digs), Kara Gryder (6 digs), Ashlyn Merritt (6digs), and Emily Brown (6 digs) leading the team’s efforts. With the win, AC improves to 4-3 on the season.

The Cougars recognized their seniors at last night’s match. Congratulations to #2 Gracie Harrington, #3 Dakota Clawson, #5 Bryanna Payne, #6 Kara Gryder, #7 Emily Brown, #8 Shelbi Coffey, #9 Brianna Abernathy, and #10 Macy Fairchild.

The Cougars will be back in action on Wednesday, December 9th as they travel to McDowell.
