The Alexander Central Volleyball Team traveled to South Caldwell High School to take on the Spartans on Tuesday
Junior Varsity
The JV Cougars won the first set but dropped the following two sets. The scores from the match
were 25-22, 21-25, and 11-15. The Cougars served tough notching 9 aces with Lindsey Reece
totaling 6 aces in the first set. The Cougar offense was led by Bella Pritchard (7 kills) and Reese
Mikeal (5 kills). The Cougar defense combined for 54 digs with Allie Patton (14 digs), Kenzie
Church (11 digs), Riyan Wilkins (9 digs), and Riley Patterson (7 digs) leading the defensive
efforts.
Varsity
The Cougars walked away with a three-set win with scores of 25-22, 25-22, and 25-11.
AC totaled 12 team blocks with Brianna Abernathy (6 blocks) and Dakota Clawson (4
blocks) leading the team’s efforts. The Cougar offense was led by Gracie Harrington (9 kills)
and Brianna Abernathy (8 kills). Setters, Bryanna Payne (17 assists), Emily Brown (3 assists),
and Madalyn Motley (3 assists), combined for 23 of the 29 assists recorded throughout the
match. The Cougar defense tallied 71 digs with Gracie Harrington (21 digs), Bryanna Payne (8
digs), and Shelbi Coffey (8 digs) anchoring the team’s defense.
The Cougars have a bit of a break with the Thanksgiving holiday coming up. They will be back
in action on Wednesday, December 2nd as they travel to Watauga High School.
