Cougar Volleyball Beats St Stephens

The JV Cougars suffered their second loss to the Indians as they dropped their match in two sets. The scores for the match were 13-25 and 16-25. The Cougar offense only totaled 3 kills throughout the match. Middle blocker, Lindsey Reece, did pick up 4 blocks along the net. The Cougar defense tallied 33 digs with Riyan Wilkins leading the defensive efforts with 10 digs.

The Varsity Cougars came out victorious during their second meeting with the Indians. The Ladies won their match in three sets with scores of 25-21, 25-14, and 25-16. The Cougar offense was led by Brianna Abernathy (9 kills, 5 blocks) with Gracie Harrington (5 kills, 3 blocks), Dakota Clawson (4 kills, 1 block), and Jenna Hensley (4 kills, 1 block) also contributing to the team’s efforts. Setters, Emily Brown (11 assists) and Bryanna Payne (11 assists) combined for 22 of the team’s 33 totaled assists. The Cougar defense tallied 52 digs with Gracie Harrington (11 digs), Shelbi Coffey (10 digs), Bryanna Payne (8 digs), and Layna West (8 digs) leading the way.

The Cougars will be back in action as they host Hickory on Wednesday, December 16th. The JV match will begin at 4:30pm with the Varsity match to follow around 6:00pm.
