The Lady Cougars trailed after 2 innings but roared back with 18 unanswered runs to win their conference opener in West Jefferson on Tuesday.
Ahse County scored twice off starter Kara Hinkle who retired only two batters in the first. Faith Carrigan entered to pitch 3.1 innings allowing only one hit.
Macy Law went 3-4 including a homer and drove in 5 runs, Peyton Price was 5-5 and had 3 rbi to lead ACHS. Anna Jordan was 4-4 and drove in a run, Kirstyn Herman homered and went 3-4. the Lady Cougars pounded out 22 hits in the game called after 5 innings.
Alexander Central is 10-0 and 1-0 in Northwestern Conference play. Ashe County is 0-6 and 0-1.

The Cougars scored 11 times in the the 2nd inning and added 5 in the 3rd en route to the beat-down over the home-standing Huskies. Four Ashe County errors led to 7 unearned runs for the visitors from Taylorsville.
Cade Miller went 4 innings to get the win allowing a hit and a run. He struck-out 9.
Jaret Hoppes had 4 rbi to lead the Cougars. Dusty Sigmon drove in 2 as did Konor Davis. AC had 11 hits.
