The Cougars dispatched of Freedom handily in a Northwestern Conference Tournament game on Tuesday in Sawmills.
Alexander Central scored a pair of runs in the 1st and added another in the 2nd. They were up 5-0 after the 4th inning. Senior Cade Miller allowed a run in 6 innings to earn the win. He allowed only 1 hit, struck out 8 Patriots and and issued 5 walks.
2B Jaret Hoppes went 3-4 with 2 rbi and he scored 3 times. Gage Weaver had 2 runs batted in.
The Cougars improve to 20-4. Freedom finishes the season at 8-16.
The win advances the Blue and Gold to the league championship game against South Caldwell. The game has been move forward to Thursday at 7pm. South advanced with an 11-1 defeat of Watauga.

Men’s Golf
Alexander Central hosted the State 4A West Regional at Brushy Mountain Golf Club on Tuesday. The Cougars finished a disappointing 5th in the event. Aidan Hollar and Christian Stone were low for the Cougars with 79’s. Hollar won a playoff to earn a spot in the state finals.
