Conover Police Arrest Suspect After He Runs Through Apartment Complex Armed With Assault Rifle

A Lincoln County man has been arrested by Conover Police after he allegedly fled from Officers on foot while armed with an assault rifle.

A vehicle operated by Anthony Gene Robinson, 41 of Lincolnton was stopped by Conover Police Friday evening for failure to maintain lane. Reports indicate the suspect, while armed with an AR-15 rifle, fled the traffic-stop on foot. He ran through an apartment complex while children were present outside. Robinson was captured after entering a wooded area nearby.

Felony possession a firearm by a felon
Felony possession of cocaine
Felony possession with intent to distribute cocaine
Felony maintain a vehicle/dwelling/place for controlled substance
Going armed to the terror of the public
Resisting arrest
Driving with license revoked
Failure to heed blue light and siren
Possession of drug paraphernalia
Altered vehicle title

Robinson is being held without bond in the Catawba County Jail.
