A Conover man was arrested this morning and charged with second-degree kidnapping. The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office arrested 21-year old David Austin Cook after responding to an incident in which Cook was also charged with assault by strangulation, and larceny of a firearm. Cook was also served with failure to appear warrants for larceny, speeding, driving with license revoked, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is being held in the Catawba County Detention Center with a secured bond of $108,000. Multiple court appearances are scheduled including Thursday in Newton.
