Claremont Man Charged With Murder Of Hickory Boy…Updated

A Claremont man has been charged with the murder of a 7-year old Hickory boy.

Zakylen Greylen Harris did of a gunshot wound sustained Wednesday evening while riding in a car driven by his mother on Tate Boulevard.

The Hickory Police Department has scheduled a news conference for 12:15 pm. It is believed they will formally announce the charges filed against 23-year old Douglas Mason Wilson. Wilson was arrested overnight by Hickory Police Officers.

Wilson is being held in the Catawba County Detention Center without bond.

Update: 12:19 pm…Hickory Police held a news briefing and confirmed the suspect Douglas Mason Wilson has been charged with murder. No questions were allowed and no other details were released.

Wilson’s mother has posted on social media that she turned her son into police after learning he was a suspect. She posted that she and her son have an estranged relationship. She offered her condolences to the family of Zakylen Harris.
