A 4-year old child was shot Thursday morning in Caldwell County.
The Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office received a call at 10:41 am about an accidental shooting at a residence off Rocky Road in Lenoir. The child was struck by a bullet when a gun that was being handled by a family friend accidentally discharged according to a report.
The child was airlifted to a regional medical facility and is expected to survive.
The investigation is ongoing with the findings to be forwarded to the District Attorney.
