
Sheriff Chris Bowman
A retirement celebration for Sheriff Chris Bowman was held Thursday, December 1 at 11:00 a.m. at East Taylorsville Baptist Church. Family, friends, colleagues, elected officials, and law enforcement personnel were in attendance to celebrate Sheriff Bowman’s retirement.
Alexander County Commissioner Larry Yoder presented a “Key to the County” to Bowman in recognition of his retirement. In addition, members of the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office made special presentations to Sheriff Bowman to commemorate his 43 years of dedicated service to the citizens of Alexander County.
Sheriff Bowman began his law enforcement career in Alexander County as a part-time patrol deputy in 1979, and advanced through the ranks of sergeant, detective, chief detective, and chief deputy. In October 2009, he was sworn in as Alexander County Sheriff to fulfill the unexpired term of Sheriff Hayden Bentley. In November 2010, Bowman was elected to serve as Sheriff, and was reelected in 2014 and 2018.
