A police officer with a department in Catawba County is charged with obstructing justice in a child sexual abuse case in Davidson County. According to a news release from the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, 44-year-old Jennifer Aree Myers, who is a sworn officer with the Brookford Police Department, and 38-year-old Benjamin Geoffrey Myers were arrested Friday (September 26). The arrest was made by Davidson County Sheriff’s Officers. They are each charged with one count of felony accessing government computers and one count of obstruction of justice. Benjamin Myers is an EMT with Davidson County EMS. Both suspects are currently listing an address in the Davidson County town of Denton.

On August 25, 2025, the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division received a report of child sexual abuse occurring at a residence located on Anderson Street in Denton, as well as other locations in the surrounding area. Following an initial investigation, Detectives identified 43-year-old Jeremy Lanning Amburn, as the primary suspect in the sexual abuse of a juvenile. Further investigation revealed that 40-year-old Angela Carpenter Amburn was aware of the abuse and actively facilitated it.

As the investigation progressed, Detectives uncovered that two individuals — Benjamin and Jennifer Myers had accessed government computer systems to obtain information regarding the ongoing investigation. This information was used to alert Jeremy Amburn in the early stages of the investigation. As a result, key evidence was destroyed.

The findings were promptly presented to the Davidson County District Attorney’s Office, and based on the evidence, the charges were filed. On Friday, both individuals were arrested and formally charged. They were incarcerated in the Davidson County Detention Center. Jennifer Myers was given a $5,000 secured bond and a December 2 court date. Benjamin Myers received a $1,500 secured bond and a December 1 court date.

The Davidson County Magistrate set conditions of their release to prohibit Jennifer Myers, Benjamin Myers, or Jeremy Amburn from having any contact through writing, person, or through a third party. The investigation is continuing.
