Catawba County Man Killed In Crash

Claremont– On Tuesday, September 9, at approximately 5:10 p.m., the NC State Highway Patrol responded to and investigated a fatal collision in Catawba County on NC 10 at Shiloh Road. A 2021 Chevrolet Silverado was attempting to turn left from Shiloh Road and pulled into the path of an eastbound 2006 Suzuki motorcycle.

The driver of the motorcycle, Eric Scott Dugger, 34, of Newton, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The driver of the Chevrolet, Troy Lawrence Griffith, 55, of Cumming, Georgia, was not injured.

The initial investigation does not indicate impairment or speed to be contributing factors. During the on-scene investigation, the roadway was closed in the area for approximately two hours. Griffith was charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle and failure to yield the right of way.
