Caldwell County Man Killed In Morning Crash

February 15, 2024 By Richard C. Gilbert

Hudson – On Thursday, February 15, at approximately 4:00 a.m., the NC State Highway Patrol responded to and investigated a fatal collision in Caldwell County on Burns Road near Oran Yount Lane. A 1999 Pontiac Bonneville was traveling west on Burns Road, drove off the right side of the road, struck an embankment, overturned, and came to rest on the driver’s side.

The driver of the Pontiac, Stanley Jeffery Burns, 64, of Granite Falls, NC, succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Burns was not restrained by a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle.

The preliminary investigation does not indicate alcohol or speed to be contributing factors in the collision. During the on-scene investigation, the roadway was partially closed in the area for approximately two hours.
