Burke County Man Charged With Statutory Sex Offenses

The Burke County Sheriff’s Office arrested 57-year old Michael Curtis Barnette of Drexel on Friday July 12th. He’s charged with felony indecent liberties with a minor and statutory sex offense by an adult.

The investigation began on July 6th when investigators got information regarding a possible sexual assault on a child.

Barnette was taken into custody and placed in the Burke County Detention Center without bond. He remained in jail as of earlier today. The investigation is ongoing and more charges are possible.
