An Alexander County Sheriff’s Deputy was injured when he was struck by a vehicle following a chase this morning.
Sheriff Chris Bowman says a suspect vehicle ran a red light at a high rate of speed in Taylorsville this morning around 2:30. Taylorsville Police and Alexander County Sheriff’s Deputies pursued the vehicle on US 64-90 west. The vehicle continued at high speed to Highway 127 and Antioch Church Road. The suspect stopped on Antioch Church Road after striking two Alexander County Sheriff’s Office patrol cars. A deputy was struck by the suspect vehicle and suffered non life-threatening injuries according to Sheriff Bowman.
Multiple shots were fired by law enforcement.

***Update*** The pursuit was stopped when stop sticks were deployed on Antioch Church Road.
The suspect then got out of his car, jumped into a deputy’s patrol car and rammed into another deputy’s vehcile.
The deputy suffered an injury after hitting his head during the impact.
A Deputy fired shots, but no one was struck or injured. The gunfire struck the stolen patrol vehicle, the suspect was not struck with the gunfire.
