Emergency crews are on the scene at this hour in Alexander County, searching for a missing person.
Sheriff Chad Pennell says two people attempted to exit a vehicle that was swept away by rushing water. One was able to get to safety, the other person is missing.
The location is near the intersection of Dover Church Road and Duck Creek Drive in the Ellendale Community.
911 received the call around 11:30 pm Saturday.
Update:
One person was clinging to a tree and was recued around 12:30 am. The other victim is still missing.
