A manhunt is in progress at this time in Western Alexander County.
Around 8:30 am, an Alexander County Sheriff’s Deputy attempted to stop a vehicle on Mt Ridge Church Road after the driver passed on a double yellow line.
The subject abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot between Mt Ridge Church Road and All Healing Springs Road.
A large law enforcement presence is in the area. K9 units are on the ground and a helicopter is searching the area.

Pennell is said to wearing a black shirt, camo shorts, a blue bandana and a ball cap. Do not approach the subject, call 911 !
As a precaution, Ellendale Elementary School has been placed on “Code In” status.
