One person died as the result of a crash around 6am this morning on NC Highway 127 in Alexander County.
Reports indicate that two vehicles were involved in the mishap.
The highway remains closed at this hour from Blankenship Road to Willie Mcloud Road.
The NC Highway Patrol is in charge of the investigation.
