This Monday morning a Central Office staff person received a general bomb threat through an email for all of Alexander County Schools. The Alexander County Sheriff’s Office was contacted and the School Resource Officers were asked to do exterior checks of the school buildings.
After the exterior checks, students were evacuated under the regular fire drill procedures while limited staff and SROs checked the buildings’ interiors.
Nothing suspicious was found at any of the schools.
The email threat originated from a computer address in San Antonio, Texas. We do not believe it to be credible; however, the buildings were evacuated per the sheriff’s office suggestion as a precaution. There have been similar hoaxes like this across the nation over the past several months.
Alexander County’s students and staff safety is always our top priority, and we will continue to work to ensure that they are able to learn in a safe and enriching environment.
