Boone Man Charged With Statutory Rape

A Boone man has been charged with the statutory rape of a child.

The Watauga County Sheriff’s Office arrested 20-year old Cameron Jaheim Watts and charged him with statutory rape of a child on July 11th. Watts is being held in the Watauga County Detention Center under a secured bond of $1 million.

According to court documents, Watts allegedly “unlawfully, willfully, and feloniously did engage in” intercourse with a minor who was — at the time of the offense — 15 years of age or younger. The court documents state that “the defendant was at least 12 years old.

The incident allegedly took place on June 29.
