Taylorsville Police and the NC Highway Patrol attempted to stop a motorcycle operator for driving without a license plate.
The biker refused to stop heading east on Highway 90 in the direction of Stony Point. Taylorsville Police and the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office pursued as the Highway Patrol terminated their involvement.
According to the arrest report, the biker entered onto Highway 64 West returning in the direction of Taylorsville. The biker crashed at the intersection of Smith Farm Road and the subject was taken into custody. Speeds during the chase reached in excess of 140 miles per hour !
31-year old Miguel Angel Arriaga of Statesville is charged with felony possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, felony flee to elude with a motor vehicle, speeding, driving with license revoked, reckless driving to endanger, no liability insurance, unsafe passing on a double yellow line and failure to stop for a steady red light.
Arriaga was placed in the Alexander County Detention Center and later released under a secured bond of $50,000. A Monday, June 26th court date is scheduled in Alexander County District Court.
