On Tuesday, February 8th, deputies with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Interstate Criminal Enforcement (ICE) Team conducted a traffic stop on a 2020 Chevrolet sedan on Interstate 77 Southbound at the 57 Mile Marker for a traffic violation.
After stopping the vehicle deputies spoke with the driver, 28-year old Danielle Angie Finney of Macon, Georgia, and her passenger, Nicholas Alexander Smith of, 28 of Saylorsburg, Pennsylvania. Deputy Canine “Connie” was called to the scene to assist with the traffic stop. “Connie” gave a positive alert to the odor and presence of illegal narcotics in the vehicle.Over 28 pounds of Marijuana was found in the rear cargo area of the vehicle. The pot seized has an estimated street value of 127,650.00 dollars.
Finney and Smith were arrested on scene without incident. Each suspect was charged with: Felony Trafficking Marijuana by Transport, Felony Trafficking Marijuana by Possession, and Felony Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Marijuana.Finney and Smith are being held in the Iredell County Detention Center with $350,000 secured bonds each.
